When the payoff is your very first driver's license, your questions flow fast and furious. But since we at Northwestern Ohio Driver Training School, Inc. teach safe driving, the first thing we'll suggest is to shift fast and furious to deliberate and calm. Then, we'll suggest that you read the information below.
  • Do I need a temporary permit to attend the classroom portion of driver training?

No, but you must have your temporary permit before beginning your behind-the-wheel sessions.

  • How old must I be before attending classroom training?

At least 15 years, 5 months.

  • Can I miss any book work classes?

Yes, but you must make up the missed session before you can begin your behind-the-wheel training.

  • What requirements must I meet to earn my Ohio driver's license?
    • Be at least 16 years old
    • Have held a valid temporary permit for 6 months
    • Complete 24 hours of classroom work and 8 hours of behind-the-wheel training at a commercial driver training school or high school training program
    • Complete an additional 50 hours of behind-the-wheel training with a parent or legal guardian, including 10 hours of night driving
  • How can I pay my driver training fees?

We accept cash, check, money order, Visa, and MasterCard. You must pay all fees in their entirety before starting your behind-the-wheel practice.

  • When can I begin my behind-the-wheel training?

After you finish your classroom training, and making up any missed classes, we'll assign your instructor according to when you received your permit. Students with the oldest permits drive first. Your date of registration for training doesn't matter.

  • Will I have the same instructor for all 8 hours of my behind-the-wheel work?

Yes, unless we tell you otherwise.

  • Can I have additional assistance after completing my scheduled training hours?

Yes. If needed, we'll provide you with additional training at no extra cost.

  • Where do I go for my 8 hours of behind-the-wheel training?

Your instructor will arrange to pick you up at your home, your school, or at work.
